We compile translation memory banks based on previously translated documents, which have been validated by our clients. A translation memory is a database that contains texts alongside its translated equivalent and is operated through a Computer-Assisted Translation software (CAT tool).

Using a CAT tool helps ensure maximum consistency, shorten deadlines, lessen volumes, and consequently, reduce budgets.

In addition to translation memories, we build glossaries to ensure that the vocabulary used for each client matches any specified preference or in-house terminology.

Do not confuse CAT(computer-assisted translation) with automatic translation. Labrador Translations does not use automatic translation tools as there is no solution sufficiently reliable at this time.
As opposed to a glossary, consisting of individual terms, a a translation memory’s basic units are“segments”, i.e. sentences.
